If you’ve taken a look at some of the men’s fashion magazines you’ll notice that a trend in women’s clothing has spilled over into the men’s department;  colour.  It’s everywhere and it’s not subtle.  The dominant colours on designer runways for spring 2012 included orange, yellow, ocean blue, bright pink, red and green.  Everyone from Versace to Louis Vuitton had something in the range of these bold bright colours.

Spring and summer are times when you can experiment with vivid colours and wear patterns too.  So don’t shy away from all that you see in stores for the season.  The simplest addition of colour is by adding a vibrant neon coloured tie.  But, if you really want to make a statement wear coloured trousers in red, blue or solar yellow.

For a man who is more on the conservative side, you can neutralize the brightness by mixing it with shades like grey, beige or khaki.  Try a grey suit with a cabaret red shirt underneath or green trousers with a pale yellow shirt similar to Ozwald Boateng’s pieces for spring.

When it comes to menswear you can always rest assured that if you choose not to pick any of the trendy new colors you’re always classic in beige, grey, white and black.  Stores like Banana Republic still featured a collection that is timeless, simple and more subdued.

Will you wear colour this spring?
