Old school cats will tell you off the top… the man runs the household. They will also tell you the woman is the backbone. That must have been way back when though. Honestly it sounds like a fairytale. I mean men and women today look at themselves as SEPARATE yet equal parties. In today’s era with all the gold digging, back-stabbing women and all the pimps, macks, and players who call themselves men… who’s really calling the shots on that one? Who’s even sticking around long enough to find out? Women have taken a huge interest in using “what they have” to get what they want. Men do the same. It becomes a power struggle and a rat race to see who folds first. Unfortunately friendships don’t develop before the sexual encounters take place. We really never get to know someone before they are “poof” gone out of our lives. Either we regret the day we met them or we barely remember them. It’s a sad reality, but it seems to be the way the world turns. It’s nothing new though. Men and women have dealt with each other this way since the beginning.

In today’s era with all the gold digging, back-stabbing women and all the pimps, macks, and players who call themselves men… who’s really calling the shots…

I’m sure you all know what the oldest profession in the world is. It’s definitely still going on theses days; just in slicker ways. Sometimes men and women with influence and money meet someone who they find attractive and could possibly make them some money so they “invest” in that person. In return they may receive sexual or other favors from their newly found “star”. This only lasts for a while until the next hot thing comes along. It seems that life has become all about thrills. We get sucked into what’s new and quickly throw aside the older, less interesting things. We are quick to call someone “washed up” or a “has been”.

No one is really trying to work things out these days. Everyone is on to the next one. How could I not understand though? People say why sit back and work on a relationship only for it to fall apart anyway, when you could easily drop your problems and move on? You could quickly find someone new and have a fresh start. Is that what we’re all looking for… the fresh start? I’ve had my phases; there were times in relationships when I worked hard to keep things on track and fought to keep us together. Once that was over I quickly became Ms. “On To The Next”. Being bitter will do that to you. It’s a defense mechanism; because we all know that no one wants to feel hurt. Then, past the hurt there’s time and probably money wasted (or so it seems wasted).

Being bitter will do that to you. It’s a defense mechanism; because we all know that no one wants to feel hurt.

I try to keep a positive attitude when things just don’t work out. I tell myself that maybe that person was just here for a season to teach me something important. Even if it’s total bull… it’s good enough to make me feel better. Everyone knows the “branches vs roots” speech Madea gave in one of those crazy movies. I believe in my heart those words are true. Now I look at life a little different. When people go in and out of my life like ships passing in the night I always say it was for a reason. You may not see it now, but each person we encounter teaches us something. It may even be something we didn’t know about ourselves. Take those lessons learned and grow from the experiences. I’m starting to realize that when someone walks out of your life, it’s a chance at a new beginning and not the end of the world. What I won’t ever do again is let that same person walk back in to my life and play games. So shout out to all the ex’s and nexts’. You might be gone today, but someone will definitely be here tomorrow. :)

“No one is really trying to work things out these days. Everyone is on to the next one.” I agree with that. Still this article lack spice. No excitement
