Samuel L. Jackson has been cast as Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in an upcoming Broadway production of “The Mountaintop.”

The drama, penned by Katori Hall, fictionalizes the civil rights leader’s April 3, 1968 night at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. The following day King was assassinated. Kenny Leon, who received a Tony nod for last year’s “Fences,” is slated to direct.

“The Mountaintop” debuted in London in 2009, winning Hall the Olivier Award for Best New Play.

Sam is a good actor, but do you think he can handle a role like this? He’s use to bashing people’s skulls and swearing every few minutes… MLK Jr was a humble kat… ummmmm, not so sure!

  2. AJ

    I agree… SLJ should play Malcolm X!!!!!

I’m not so sure. I think the actor should look something like the person they’re playing in a biography. Denzel looked a lot like Malcolm X in the Spike Lee movie. So, I just saw Malcolm X. When I watched will smith play Ali, for some reason I only saw Will Smith through the whole movie. If they can get the make up right…. I don’t know. I think I’d just be seeing Samuel.
