American Black Film Festival – Miami 2011

If you are in the M-I-A this weekend (and you should be, as should I) then you will be amongst the upper echelon of Black Actors…. and more importantly, Black Actresses!

In it’s 15th year of celebrating the contributions that African-Americans have made to the Motion picture industry. 2011 will honour Keenen Ivory “Wayans” with the Entertainment Icon Award. A feature discussion with John Singleton on 20 years since his controversial film Boyz In The Hood hit theaters, and it’s influence across all media industries will draw the masses.

The ABFF was established to entertain, inform, inspire, encourage and educate by creating a forum Where people of colour could come together to experience the best and brightest in cinema created by people of African descent.

Kicking off today, the festival’s screenings, receptions and workshops will wrap up on July 9th. Can you say Black Star Power!
